Certified Athletic Trainer and Academic Professor
Jaimie holds a B.S. in Athletic Training from Charleston Southern University and a MSEd in Post-Professional Athletic Training Educational Program from Old Dominion University. She has been working as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) for over 10 years with a variety of sports. Sports include but not limited to Baseball, Basketball, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lacrosse, Runners, Soccer, Softball, and Performing Arts. She has worked with athletes ranging from youth to professional athletes. Jaimie has experience working as an ATC for the performing arts for over 9 years, touring with The Rockettes, Burn the Floor, Lord of the Dance and Heart Beat of Home. Jaimie has danced for17 years, and has also taught dance and gymnastics before seeking her athletic training degree. Along with being an ATC Jaimie is currently teaching at Dean College and Bridgewater State University. She additionally holds the certifications of CPR/AED, CPR/AED/Frist Aid Instructor and is Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner.
What is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)?
An ATC is a health care professional who meets the qualifications set by a state licensure and/or the Board of Certification, Inc. and practices under the direction of a physician. More than 70 percent of ATCs hold at least a master’s degree. The services provided by ATCs comprise of prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. ATC’s prepare an athlete to return from injury with a focus on the specific demands their sport.
